Abandoned vehicles

There is an abandoned vehicle in my street, what can I do?

  • The vehicle must be out of registration before the Law Enforcement Officers can act
  • To report an abandoned vehicle that is out of registration you will need to contact Council's Customer Services on 9911 6555 and supply the following information:
    • Your name and address
    • Description of the vehicle including the location, make, colour and number plate details if available. These details will be recorded and forwarded to Councils Law Enforcement Team for investigation
  • Council will attempt to contact the last registered owner of the vehicle and generally the vehicle will be removed from a public place within 15 working days
  • If the vehicle is not removed by the owner Council may impound or dispose of the vehicle in accordance with the Impounding Act, 1993.

Abandoned trailers

There is an abandoned trailer on the street, what can I do?

  • The use of trailers for the sole purpose of advertising requires Council development consent. Trailers left for extended periods of time in the same location can be classified as unattended and therefore impounded/disposed of by Council
  • To report an abandoned/unattended trailer you will need to contact Council's Customer Services on 9911 6555 and supply the following information:
    • Your name and address
    • Description of the trailer including the location and number plate if available. These details will be recorded and forwarded to Councils Law Enforcement Team for investigation
  • Council will attempt to contact the last registered owner of the trailer and generally the trailer will be removed from a public place within 15 working days
  • If the trailer is not removed by the owner Council may impound or dispose of the trailer in accordance with the Impounding Act, 1993.
