Cleanout your household chemicals

15 September 2017 | Environment

City of Canada Bay residents can dispose of household paints, chemicals and oils safely at our free annual Chemical CleanOut Day on Saturday, 14 October.

“The event is held annually and provides residents a chance to clean out their households and safely dispose of chemicals,” City of Canada Bay Mayor, Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

“It’s important to protect our families and the environment by disposing of old chemicals in a safe manner,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

“These common household products can be dropped off at the Cintra Park car park in Concord between 9am and 3.30pm on the day.”

The following materials in household quantities (20kg or 20L max) will be accepted:

  • Paint and paint-related liquids
  • Cooking and motor oils, fuel and fluids
  • Batteries (from cars, toys, appliances etc)
  • Fluorescent light globes and tubes
  • Solvents and household cleaners
  • Pool and hobby chemicals
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Acids, alkalis and poisons
  • Gas bottles and fire extinguishers.

To dispose of problem wastes throughout the year, visit the City of Canada Bay’s Community Recycling Centre, call the Environment Line on 131 555 or visit www.cleanout.com.au
