Harry's Shed Background
Council has supported local interest to develop a Men's Shed in the City of Canada Bay. Harry's Shed is a partnership project between the City of Canada Bay and the City of Canada Bay Men's Shed Inc.
Harry's Shed is named in honour of long term Councillor Jeanette O'Hara and her late husband, Harry, both tireless proponents of the development of a local men's shed.
Men's Sheds are valuable community assets where men and women can meet and build local networks before and after retirement. The benefits of men's sheds are widely recognised and include:
- Social opportunities to meet and discuss a range of subjects
- Improved health outcomes
- Reduced social isolation
- Broader community benefits through the contribution made by the group.
Council is very pleased to support this initiative locally and is able to provide a local site and a funding contribution towards the program. Harry's Shed is also a proud member of the Australian Men's Shed association.
