Volunteers play a vital role in contributing to the City of Canada Bay community. Each year, unpaid workers donate their free time, skills and enthusiasm to support local groups and participate in events, activities and programs that improve or assist the lives of others.

Volunteers also make an invaluable contribution to society. In 2006, Australian volunteers racked up an impressive 713 million hours in unpaid work, according to statistics published in the ABS Voluntary Work, Australia Survey (2006).

As part of Council's FuturesPlan20 - a vision for the next 20 years, Council is working towards developing an engaged and vibrant city. The 'Volunteer in the City of Canada Bay' initiative provides and promotes a wide range of community events and activities in which volunteers can be involved. It also supports effective communication and promotion of services in the area.
