Report Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is the depositing – dumping, tipping or otherwise – of waste larger than litter into water or onto private or public land where no license or approval exists to accept such waste. Illegal dumping varies from small bags of waste in an urban environment to larger scale dumping of materials in isolated areas, such as bushland.

Dumped waste can include:

  • General household waste or garden organic material
  • Larger domestic items (for example mattresses, furniture and white goods)
  • Construction and demolition waste including excavation waste and asbestos
  • Chemicals, paints, liquids and other hazardous waste
  • Abandoned vehicles, car parts and shopping trolleys.

Council wants the community to support its efforts and send a clear message that illegal dumping is not welcome in the City of Canada Bay and that anyone dumping waste will be caught.

Both Council and the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) can issue fines for illegal dumping. Penalties range from $2,000 to $15,000.

Its not a service, its a crime and its called Illegal Dumping.
