Proposal to reduce traffic congestion at intersection of Parramatta and Great North roads, Five Dock

| 10 December 2015

The NSW Government is funding a proposal to reduce traffic congestion at the intersection of Parramatta Road and Great North Road as part of its $246 million Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce traffic delays, manage congestion and maintain travel times on Sydney’s major roads particularly during weekday peak periods.

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will carry out field investigation work to help develop a proposal for dual right turn lanes from Parramatta Road into Great North Road.

This work will be carried out on:

The investigation will include excavating small sections of the road, surveying and electronic detection of underground utilities.

Due to delays, this work will take two more shifts to complete between Monday, 14 December and Sunday, 20 December, weather permitting. Working hours will be between 8pm and 5am.

How will the work affect you?

There will be some noise associated with this work. Every effort will be made to minimise its impact by completing the noisiest work by 11pm. Work will also be carried out on the footpath and on some private properties. If access to your property is required you will be contacted in advance.

      Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit  or download the Live Traffic NSW App.

If you have any questions, please call RMS' delivery partner Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture on 1800 677 700 or email . More info at .
