I am calling on the community to help build the newest world-class facility for walking, running and cycling along the Homebush Bay foreshore, City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said. “The new Homebush Bay Circuit will be the destination playground for adults and children alike to enjoy the benefits of socialising, relaxing and exercising in our natural, vibrant environment,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said. “We are a smart city moving toward a smart future, and located at the heart of the Homebush Bay Circuit plan is a strategy which includes state-of-the-art technology for info and wayfinding throughout the walk.” This technology will include a digital master map, finger boards, digital kiosks and map boards providing accessible assistance for users to navigate the circuit day and night. “This innovative plan will also help locals and visitors interpret the area’s rich history and natural beauty. The Homebush Bay Circuit will become a well-recognised and popular addition to the region’s existing attractions.” “It’s difficult to think of a better legacy for the site of the Sydney 2000 Olympics than a world-class walking and cycling network that transforms the Homebush Bay waterfront. I urge the community to provide their feedback today.” The vision for the Homebush Bay Circuit is to provide a safe and comfortable walking and cycling environment, meeting the needs of users and user groups of all ages. The plan includes dedicated, secure pathways for both cyclists and pedestrians away from the general traffic. Central to the construction will be ecologically sensitive path designs in areas of abundant natural beauty and biodiversity. “We are committed to protecting the environmental, cultural and social value of open spaces and foreshore areas, and this plan is evidence of that,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
“Feedback on the Homebush Bay Circuit masterplan is open until 31 August and I encourage residents, workers and visitors to share their feedback and help us build this world class fitness facitlity.” The Homebush Bay Circuit project is a partnership with the City of Canada Bay, the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and the City of Parramatta.
