Council | 30 June 2023

“I’m delighted to announce that the City of Canada Bay will be awarding over $200,000 to 51 well-deserving groups as part of its 2023-24 Community Funding Programs,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

The funding was awarded through two programs: Community Grants and Community Sponsorship.

"Local groups and volunteers are the heartbeat of our community and we are committed to supporting projects, events and organisations that celebrate diversity, showcase creativity, recognise sporting achievements and benefit our community,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

Among the recipients this year is the Rhodes Multicultural Community Association which will use the funds to celebrate cultural diversity and bring events such as Moon Festival and Lunar New Year to Rhodes.

Local Drummoyne charity Communities for Communities was also awarded funds to go towards its annual Carols in the Park and Community Fun Day events which raise money for disadvantaged communities.

“It’s wonderful to be able to support these groups and bring their events or initiatives to life,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
