The City of Canada Bay is encouraging commuters to take care while driving, with several vibrant banners displaying road safety messaging now installed at school zones across the City.
“With a new school term underway, now is the perfect opportunity to consider how we protect the safety of our children and the rest of the community when we're out on the road,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.
The banners were distributed to seven schools across the City this week: St Mary's Catholic School, Concord West Public School, Concord Public School, Strathfield North Public School, St Patrick's Catholic School (Mortlake), St Mark's Catholic School (Drummoyne) and Rosebank College (Five Dock).
“We are committed to fostering a positive culture of road safety throughout the City, particularly in school zones. This additional signage will be a reminder of the important role we all play in this, with a particular focus on driving with caution around schools and children.”
There was a choice of six banners, with each school given the opportunity to select those which best suited their needs.
The choice of banners included: Keep the line moving, park legally in school zones, no U-turns in school zones, slow down children around, safety over convenience, stop, look, listen and think.
Mayor Tsirekas said he was delighted to see such positive steps towards reinforcing the importance of driving safely and encouraged all members of the community to do their part by observing speed limits and road rules.
