Mia Dolci dreams up limited-edition dessert for Ferragosto

This year, Sydney’s largest Italian street festival Ferragosto will feature an exciting new dessert offering — a limited edition Baci cannoli developed especially for the event by Italian-born pastry chef Riccardo Falcone, co-founder of Mia Dolci pasticceria in Alexandria.

Former executive pastry chef of Rockpool Group, Riccardo has teamed up with Mayers Fine Food to bring the decadent dessert to life. “We have taken the classic Baci and given it a twist! The crunchy cannoli shell will be piped fresh to order with Mia's own Baci inspired chocolate custard and topped with a Baci crumb,” said Riccardo.

Born in Campania, Italy, Riccardo has strong ties to both the dessert and the traditional Italian festival, Ferragosto.  “Cannoli is a signature dish of Italy and brings back fond memories of home.

“Ferragosto is an amazing opportunity for us to turn a premium ingredient into a beautiful product for people to enjoy.” The special cannoli will be available at the Mercato di Mayers stall at Ferragosto, held on Sunday, 20 August along Great North Road in Five Dock from 10am to 5pm.

“Ferragosto is a great day out for the whole family with plenty of traditional Italian food and entertainment on offer,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said. “Last year’s festival attracted record crowds and we’re expecting an even bigger turnout this year.” Visit www.ferragosto.com.au for more information.
