The City of Canada Bay was excited to officially open the $84 million Concord Oval Community and Sports Precinct on Wednesday, 25 January.

“I’m delighted to celebrate the grand opening of the new Concord Oval Community and Sports precinct with our community,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

“The precinct features green open spaces, the brand-new Concord Oval Recreation Centre, multipurpose sports courts, venues for hire, a café and more. I hope to see the precinct become a cornerstone of the community.

“This is the most significant capital project the City of Canada Bay has delivered in our 22-year history. The precinct will service the needs of generations to come and is the product of wonderful collaboration between all three levels of government, elite sporting groups and our passionate local community.”

This precinct is a place where locals can gather, create, exercise, and enjoy team sports overlooking the historic Concord Oval and alongside the Wests Tigers Centre for Excellence.

To celebrate the opening of the precinct and give residents an opportunity to explore the new facilities, the City of Canada Bay hosted a family friendly event for all ages to enjoy. Locals were invited to come along to Concord Oval from 4–10pm for food trucks, free entertainment and other fun activities, before a free movie screening of Go Karts (PG) under the stars at 8pm.

Visitors were also able to tour the Concord Oval Recreation Centre, which has been designed for people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels, and is home to a state-of-the-art gym, four indoor sports courts, spin room, group fitness rooms, stretch spaces, and a creche.

The $84 million Concord Oval Community and Sports Precinct is proudly funded by the NSW Government, the Australian Government, and the City of Canada Bay, in association with the Wests Tigers.
