Town centres across the City of Canada Bay have come to life this month with Council’s annual spring planting works well underway.
This year Council has invested over $40,000 to beautify the City with new colourful garden beds, planter boxes and hanging flower baskets.
The works involved removing winter plantings and refreshing garden beds with violas in four vibrant colour combinations, as well as installing hanging baskets of beautiful red begonias.
“Each year our annual spring planting program adds vibrancy and charm to our City streets,” Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.
“It’s a wonderful initiative that amplifies our area’s natural beauty and helps foster community pride in our urban centres.
Over 2,000 plants and 20 hanging baskets have been installed across the City of Canada Bay as part of this year’s program. Two major sites of the rejuvenation are Majors Bay Road in Concord and Great North Road in Five Dock.
Rhodes is also home to new pink and orange pigface flowers and red kangaroo paw, enhancing the foreshore path along the river.
“Spring is a time for renewal, and there is no better way to welcome the season than with an injection of vibrant colour into our community hubs.”
“As we enter the warmer months, I hope these rejuvenated spaces encourage residents so spend more time outdoors, be active and explore the City of Canada Bay and utilise our shared community spaces,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
