Michael Megna has been elected as Mayor of the City of Canada Bay, leading a new look Council for the 2024–28 term. Joining Mayor Megna are returning Councillors Anthony Bazouni, Andrew Ferguson and Charles Jago, along with Hugo Robinson, Maria Cirillo, David Mansford, Sylvia Alafaci and Mas Meuross, who have been elected as Councillors for the first time.
Michael Megna was elected to Drummoyne Council in 1987 and has served four years as Deputy Mayor and six years as Mayor at Drummoyne Council, and the City of Canada Bay Council following the amalgamation of Drummoyne and Concord Council, before his re-election as Mayor of Canada Bay in September 2024.
Michael is now serving his ninth four-year term and has represented his community for over 35 years.
Michael has a strong interest in utilising our river transport system and was instrumental in securing new Rivercat services and wharves at Chiswick, Cabarita and Abbotsford. He also secured funding for the construction of the Bay Run around Iron Cove. Being a lifelong, third-generation Canada Bay resident, Michael is a strong community representative and is a good advocate for local residents when it comes to their issues of concern.
Michael is a Chartered Tax Advisor and has operated a business in Five Dock since 1974. He is married with two children.

For more than 26 years, Anthony Bazouni, has been committed to providing the community with the highest level of legal service as a Lawyer.

He also knows the issues these cause to local residents and that a balance is required when promoting these aspects and assisting our local businesses.

David has been a proud resident of the City of Canada Bay for over 40 years, having grown up in Concord during the 1970s. Since 2012, he and his wife have been raising their family in Concord West.
His professional experience is in the media industry and he has worked at Fairfax Media (now Nine) for over twenty years.
David is committed to helping make the City of Canada Bay clean, safe and livable for residents.
An active member of the community, David has volunteered with Briars Junior Cricket, Concord Giants, and the Canada Bay Cannons for the past six years. From 2022 to 2024, he served on the Council’s Environmental Advisory Committee, and since 2021, he has been an Ethics Teacher and Coordinator at Strathfield North Public School.

Sylvia Alafaci is the Secretary of the Australian Business Summit Council Inc. and co-founder of EKONOMOS business affairs magazine.
She is also a past Director of Club Service and Vocational Service at the Rotary Club of Five Dock and a former Board Member of the Australia-China Friendship and Exchange Association. As a well-known member of the Korean-Australian community and former Secretary of the Asian Australian Business Council Inc., she co-organised the 2015 Korean Australian Forum on East Asian Sovereignty Disputes and the 2018 NSW Asian Business Excellence Awards Gala Dinner to promote, showcase and recognise the achievements of notable Asian Australian businesses.
She has also co-organised business networking events, media conferences and annual gala dinners for the Australian Business Summit Council Inc., featuring eminent business leaders, political leaders and members of the diplomatic corps. Her steadfast devotion to serving the local community attracted public recognition in 2018, with the conferral of a community service award for outstanding services to the Chinese-Australian community from the Hon. Mark Coure MP (Member for Oatley).

First elected to Council in 2017 Andrew is a dedicated and active Councillor. He is a strong advocate for residents.
Andrew has been a resident in Concord, Rhodes, Mortlake and Breakfast Point for more than 35 years. He is committed to issues of equity, social justice, heritage and environmental sustainability.
Andrew was the inaugural Chair of the Rhodes Community Garden and Public Officer of the Rhodes Multicultural Community Association. Andrew is active in many community organisations and is presently a Patron of the Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia and on the Board of the Cardiac Arrest Survival Foundation.
He has been on the board of many government agencies and companies and holds a Bachelor of Economics, Masters of Economics and a Diploma of Urban Studies. Andrew works full time in the insurance industry.
Andrew is passionate about representing residents, community and business to make Canada Bay an even greater place to live and work.

With a diverse range of experience working across different industries and community groups, Hugo is well-equipped to deliver meaningful outcomes for the Canada Bay community.
A Breakfast Point local, Hugo has previously served on Burwood Council and is an active and proud Rotarian. He has previously worked as a teacher’s aide, and as an advocate for the hospitality sector and is now working in the corporate sector.
Hugo is always keen to hear what issues residents face and how Council can improve the community around us.

Mas Meuross has been a City of Canada Bay resident since 2000, initially living in Breakfast Point and now in Cabarita — she couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
Mas and her husband founded a freight logistics software business in 1999, servicing the international freight industry. She has over 20 years of experience in the business and enjoys the opportunity to assist clients and build long-lasting relationships.
Mas looks forward to serving her community and being part of a team dedicated to making the City of Canada Bay a great place to live and work. As a first-time Councillor, she welcomes the opportunity to engage with residents, ratepayers, and the local community and represent and assist them with local issues whenever required.

Maria is a dedicated high school English teacher with the NSW Department of Education, bringing extensive experience in education and community engagement to her role as a councillor. Previously, she served as Deputy and Acting Director of Solar Citizens, advocating for renewable energy initiatives across Australia.
Passionate about the natural and built environments, Maria is committed to ensuring community services are accessible and relevant, including addressing gaps in services for women. As the Metro West stations develop, she aims to prioritise residents' needs and amplify their voices in Council discussions.
