The Lab is a network of technology clubs for young people with autism who enjoy working with computers.
In The Lab Five Dock, we focus on building foundational skills, with mentors supporting participants in gaming, coding and 3D printing. Designed for young teenagers, we offer a welcoming atmosphere for social development, alongside a vibrant mix of technology and fun!
All sessions are run at Five Dock Library on Monday afternoons from 3:30pm to 5:30pm for 9-weeks during school terms. Parents are encouraged to stay in the library space where there are workspaces and free WiFi.
The Lab takes an unstructured approach so every session is different. We want participants to take part in activities because it interests them, not because they have to. This approach is based on The Lab's experience with hundreds of young people. The Lab is designed to be a cool and accepting place to visit, hang out and learn while having fun.
At the Five Dock location we require that all students Bring Your Own Device (BOYD) as we do not have computers or iPads.
Please note The Lab Five Dock is for participants aged 10+. We apply this age guide to target the group’s needs and interests. For older participants aged 15+, we host The Lab Rhodes.
$419.40 for a full term (9 weeks).
Go to The Lab website to complete your registration for The Lab Five Dock. From there you will be contacted with further details.
Please note that Monday 9 June is a Public Holiday and our last session will be on Monday 30 June.
