The City of Canada Bay is thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new adventure playground at Brett Park in Drummoyne.
This $670,000 project, jointly funded by Council and the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment Open Space’s Places to Play Program, delivers an inclusive playground for adventure and fun.
“We are proud to deliver an inclusive, engaging space where children of all abilities can connect, explore and play,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said.
The new playground features natural elements such as tree logs, timber structures, ropes, boulders and plants, complementing the surrounding environment.
Children can also enjoy sensory features and inclusive play equipment such as a swing, water pump, and sand digger – designed for all abilities to enjoy.
“This playground is a great example of thoughtful design,” Mayor Megna said. “Creating areas that bring our community together and encourage active, outdoor fun is at the heart of what we do.”
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the NSW Government has contributed $250,000 in funding towards this project.
“A big part of building better communities is making sure that people have access to well-designed open spaces,” Mr Scully said.
“The transformation of the area into an adventure will allow children in the area to get outdoors and enjoy exploring nature.”
To celebrate the opening, the City of Canada Bay is hosting an opening event at Brett Park Playground (cnr of Tranmere Street and Day Street) on Sunday, 15 December from 9:30–10:30am.
Everyone is encouraged to come along, explore the playground and enjoy a free coffee as we celebrate this exciting new addition to Brett Park.
