Canada Bay Expands E-waste Drop-off Day

Sustainability | 19 February 2025

The City of Canada Bay is delighted to be running its first Recycling+ Drop-off Day this month, making it easier for residents to divert waste from landfill.

The Recycling+ Drop-Off Day event is an expansion of Council’s regular E-waste Drop-off Day and will trial the collection of polystyrene, bicycles and clothing/textiles in addition to old, unwanted or broken electronic items (excluding white goods).

“We know there are some items that can be really tricky to recycle, and we want to help residents be part of a more circular economy by offering them the opportunity to recycle more often and more conveniently,” says City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna.

The Recycling+ Drop-Off Day is a drive-through, drop-off event, where residents can simply pack their car and stop by Crane Street carpark in Concord to unload their items for recycling for free. This includes:

Household electronics

  • Computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, memory sticks, cables and faxes.
  • Home entertainment devices such as TVs, CDs, DVD players and sound systems.
  • Mobile phones, cameras, and records.
  • Household appliances such as irons, kettles, toasters, microwaves, fans, power tools and vacuum cleaners.

Polystyrene packaging

  • Expanded Polystyrene packaging – the white, lightweight, rigid foam used to protect goods during shipping.

Bikes

  • Bicycles, including e-bikes, scooters/e-scooters, children’s bicycles, balance bikes and tricycles.

Clothing and manchester

  • Wearable clothing, non-wearable clothing, towels and manchester (excluding pillows, cushions, doonas and doona covers).

Visit our website for the full list of accepted items.

The collection of bicycles at this event is an initiative of the NSW Environment Protection Authority under the NSW Government’s Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy, and is funded from the waste levy.
