This month the City of Canada Bay launched new educational artwork across its waste collection trucks, encouraging residents to reduce waste and recycle right.
“We’ve transformed nine waste collection trucks into eye-catching ‘mobile billboards’ to share some important messages with our community about how to dispose of rubbish correctly, reduce waste and keep our environment clean,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.
“Not only do the trucks look great, but they will help us encourage behavioural change among residents when it comes to waste management, as well as empower the community to make better choices by recycling and reusing more.”
The City of Canada Bay collaborated with an external agency to create colourful, educational livery featuring easy-to-understand illustrations and key waste management messages informed by Council’s Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy.
The new designs:
- Identify common contaminants in recycling and general waste bins
- Encourage composting
- Inspire recycling, reuse and repair
- Promote our Community Recycling Centre, and more.
To celebrate the new designs and test our community's waste and recycling knowledge, Council is running a competition asking residents to fill in the blanks on our important waste reduction messages.
