This year the City of Canada Bay hosted one of its biggest ever Youth Week programs, with a range of activities and events for young people across our libraries, indoor community spaces and parks.
“Youth Week is an opportunity for young people across the state to come together in their local communities and I’m delighted that so many of our young residents in Canada Bay joined us to celebrate. I hope the program offered them the opportunity to learn something new, have fun and maybe even make some new friends,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna.
The week kicked off with an intergenerational dumpling-making workshop that brought together students from Concord High Schools with senior volunteers from the Rhodes Multicultural Community Association (RMCA), who came along to share their cuisine and culture in a meaningful way.
"It was great to see students connecting with and learning from our senior volunteers – and the feedback from both groups following the session was really positive,” said Mayor Megna
“The workshop was a beautiful example of how we can bridge generations and celebrate our diverse community.”
Following this launch event, there were another 12 activities that formed the Youth Week program, including creative workshops, free exercise sessions and a sustainable clothing swap.
