The City of Canada Bay is proposing exciting upgrades to Howley Park in Drummoyne following community feedback.
City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said he was delighted with the proposed plans to enhance Howley Park.
“With views stretching from the Gladesville Bridge up Paramatta River towards Cabarita and beyond, these plans have the potential to transform one of our great waterfront picnic spots and open up the space for all residents to enjoy,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
The draft Masterplan, which outlines the long-term plans for the development of the space, is currently open for further feedback from the community.
“It is important to us to ensure that Howley Park caters to the evolving needs of our unique community into the future, and there is nobody more qualified to provide feedback on how we can do this than our local residents.”
Funded by the Australian government, NSW Government's Department of Planning and Environment, in partnership with the City of Canada Bay. The proposed upgrades would include upgrading existing garden beds, new tree planting and the retention of the existing tree canopy.
Also proposed in the draft Masterplan are beautification works, including lawn terraces with seating steps, a gathering circle, park furniture and revegetation, with improved pedestrian access throughout the space to ensure all members of the community can come and enjoy the iconic riverside park.
Mayor Tsirekas said the proposed improvements would add significant value to the way residents utilised the park.
“Our unique open spaces are one of our main attractions here in the City of Canada Bay and I encourage all members of the community to contribute to the Masterplan, which will inform the future of Howley Park and how it services our local residents.”
