The City of Canada Bay has announced the recipients of its 2021–22 Community Funding Programs.

“We are committed to supporting projects, events and organisations that celebrate diversity, showcase creativity, recognise sporting achievements, and benefit the local community,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

Each year Council allocates significant funding to a diverse range of groups through its two main streams of funding, Community Grants and Community Sponsorship.

“This year I am delighted to announce the City of Canada Bay has granted $104,999 to 52 well-deserving organisations.”

This includes $64,999 as part of the Community Grants Program and $40,000 as part of the Community Sponsorship Program. An additional $11,725 has also been granted via fee waivers to eight community groups.

Among the recipients this year are VASA, a volunteer organisation which facilitates out of home excursions for frail and housebound residents; Let’s Get Going, a non-profit organisation that provides all-abilities fitness programs; and the Rhodes Multicultural Community Association, a group that celebrates cultural diversity and engages the community through dance, English classes, and other activities.

“Organisations and events like these are the lifeblood of our community and our Community Funding Programs are a wonderful way for us to help them achieve their goals,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
