The City of Canada Bay has completed the final stage of upgrades to McIlwaine Park, Rhodes, capping off a $10 million investment into the park over four years.
Totalling $1.6 million, the latest upgrades have transformed the riverside park with a new playground and amenities building, barbecues and picnic shelters, and a refurbishment of the beloved Putt-Putt mini golf course.
McIlwaine Park is one of our most picturesque foreshore parks and we’re pleased to have made it an even more enjoyable destination with these latest upgrades, City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said.
Rhodes is one of the fastest growing areas in Sydney, with its population expected to reach 18,000 by 2036. Located alongside the foreshore and close to public transport links, McIlwaine Park is a vital open space for residents.
Our latest upgrades cap off a $10 million transformation of the park since 2021, transforming it into a high-quality outdoor space that will meet the needs of our growing community, now and into the future.
These enhancements follow an $8.7 million upgrade delivered in 2023, proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with the City of Canada Bay, which included a new beach area, sandstone seawall, discovery rockpools, and new pathways and barbecue shelters.
