To celebrate Youth Week 2023, this April the City of Canada Bay held a photography competition for budding local photographers aged 12–18 years of age.
“The Youth Week Photography Competition attracted more than 40 entries across three categories, which aligned with the NSW Youth Week theme: ‘Connect, Participate and Celebrate’,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.
“This was the second youth photography competition we’ve run at the City of Canada Bay and it was great to see how our young people interpreted the different categories, submitting such varied and beautiful images.
“Thank you to all the photographers who entered and congratulations to our winners.”
Announced on Monday, 15 May, the winners are:
Connection category
- Winner: ‘Connecting with my Inner Joy – Dance’ by Laura
- Runner-up: ‘Cute and Curious’ by Grace (People’s Choice winner, below)
Participate category
- Winner: ‘Reading to the Sky’ by Saoud
- Runner-up: ‘Catching a Sunset’ by Isabel
Celebrate category
- Winner: ‘New Years’ by Adelaide
- Runner-up: ‘Drying Off’ by Matilda
