Parking Permit Changes

January 2025

Breadcrumb

To manage and share parking in specific locations of high demand, the City Canada Bay operates a number of Permit Parking schemes across our area.

A number of positive changes to these permits schemes were announced in December 2024.

If you hold a current Residential Parking Permit and have had no change in address or car registration, your permit has been automatically extended to 30 June 2026.

All other eligible residents will be able to apply for a new Residential Parking Permit from 1 February 2025 through an improved online application process.

You will need to apply for a new permit if you are:

  • A resident who currently holds a Residential Parking Permit and have had a change in car registration.

  • A new resident, who has moved into an area covered by a Parking Permit scheme.

Before you start an application, please check your eligibility or contact us on 02 9911 6555 to confirm the number of residential parking permits for which you may be eligible.

FAQs

Am I eligible for a parking permit?

Go to the Parking Webpage to check your eligibility and to find the documents that are required for an application.

Contact our Customer Experience Team if you have any questions or need assistance on 02 9911 6555.

My Residential Parking Permit has been extended, what do I need to do?

As long as your address and vehicle registration are the same, you should continue to display your current permit (with 28 Feb 2025 expiry) on your windscreen. These permits will be honoured until 30 June 2026.

I’ve had a change in registration, do I need to apply for a new permit?

Yes, you will need to apply to have a new Residential Parking Permit issued.

Can I have my Residential Parking Permit reprinted with the new date of 30 June 2026?

If your permit is damaged or peeling off the windscreen you can request a reprinted permit by emailing us at council@canadabay.nsw.gov.au and include your current Permit Number, address, and a copy of your Photo ID.

Otherwise, you can continue to display your current permit (with expiry of 28 Feb 2025) until 30 June 2026.

Please note that Visitor Parking Permits cannot be reprinted as they are not linked to a car registration number. Contact the Customer Experience Team if you have any questions or concerns on 02 9911 6555.

My Residential or Parks Parking Permit expired in 2024 or earlier. Have these also been extended?

If your permit expired in 2024 or earlier, you are at risk of receiving an infringement as your permit has expired.

You need to apply for a new permit and provide the information required. Your new permits will be issued to you subject to eligibility and approval.

Allow up to 10 business days from the application submission to receive confirmation of outcome of your applications.
