Australian Heritage Festival: Henry Lawson Exhibition

Five Dock Library is showing a photographic exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of famous Australian writer, Henry Lawson.

Lawson had an association with Canada Bay in his later life. Born in Grenfell, NSW on the 17 June 1867, he spent the last period of his life at Abbotsford, where he died in 1922 and is remembered today by Henry Lawson Park and memorials at Abbotsford Public School.

He was also a patient at Thomas Walker Convalescent Hospital at Concord, which he described as ‘a stately home of Rest’ in his poem The Unknown Patient.
